To ensure a stress-free race weekend and allow you to fully enjoy the action on the track, here are some practical tips.
You won’t go hungry during the race weekend. Nearly every grandstand has a designated food area offering refreshments. Options include permanent bars and a growing number of food trucks, providing a variety of culinary choices. While not all stands will have the complete selection of food available across the circuit due to logistical constraints, every stand will offer a good range of alternatives to suit various tastes. Visitors are welcome to bring small amounts of personal food and beverages, such as a sandwich, a piece of fruit, or a single bottle.
Save all important information, including tickets, maps, and details about your favourite riders, on your phone before heading to the circuit. On Sundays, the network at the TT Circuit Assen can become congested, making it difficult to access data or make calls. If you’re meeting friends, arrange a specific time and place beforehand, as contacting each other might not be possible.
Motorsport events are known for their high noise levels. While the noise in regular grandstands is generally tolerable, earplugs are recommended if you’re seated closer to the track. For families attending with children, protective headphones are essential to safeguard their hearing.
The weather in Assen during mid-April can be quite variable. Daytime temperatures typically range from around 8°C (46°F) to 14°C (57°F), with nights cooling down to between 3°C (37°F) and 6°C (43°F). April is generally a wet month, so rain is common, and showers can happen unexpectedly. Winds are often strong in the area, which can make the air feel colder than the actual temperature. While the days are getting longer, with about 10 to 12 hours of daylight, overcast skies are typical, and clear weather isn't always guaranteed. It's best to dress in layers and bring rain gear, as the weather can shift rapidly.
