RACE WEEKEND REPORT | WSBK Australia 2025

Italian rider Nicolo Bulega had perfect weekend Phillip Island as he won all the three races.

Race One

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) dominated the opening race at Phillip Island, leading from the early laps and maintaining control even after the mandatory mid-race tyre change. He finished comfortably ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), who briefly led due to a later pit stop but couldn’t hold off Bulega’s pace. Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) secured third, marking a strong result for Ducati. Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) and Scott Redding (MGM BONOVO Racing Ducati) rounded out the top five. Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven Ducati) initially fought for a podium but dropped back due to a mechanical issue.

Superpole Race

Bulega continued his dominant weekend, securing victory in the 10-lap Superpole Race. Andrea Iannone finished second, but 2.3 seconds behind, while Danilo Petrucci completed an all-Ducati podium in third. Scott Redding took fourth, with Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team Ducati) in fifth, his best WorldSBK result. Bautista and Razgatlioglu had race-ending incidents, with Bautista crashing on Lap 2 and Razgatlioglu finishing 12th after an early mistake at Turn 4.

Race Two

Bulega secured his third consecutive win of the weekend, leading a Ducati top-six sweep. Bautista finished second, marking his best performance in recent races, while Iannone took third. Scott Redding originally finished fourth but received a penalty for an early pit lane exit, though he maintained his position. Petrucci and Sam Lowes completed the Ducati-dominated top six. Razgatlioglu, after an aggressive recovery from a poor grid position, was penalised for a collision with Petrucci and later retired due to a technical issue.

Bulega now leads the championship with a perfect 62 points, ahead of Bautista (36 points) and Iannone (35 points). The next round takes place in Portimão at the end of March.
